Is Biozobid an irrational combination?

Q: My 84-year-old mother has been prescribed Biozobid which, according to the manufacturer, is a combination of Diclofenac and Serratiopeptidase. I found that this is an irrational combination. But I don't know if Biozobid is fixed dose or not. There seems to be no mg indication on the label. Should I be concerned?

A:Yes, it is a Fixed-Dose Combination. Such a product is not permitted or sold anywhere else in the world. Due to lax laws and compromised state drug control system, such irrational combinations are openly being manufactured and marketed in India. Incidentally this combination is also illegal because it is being manufactured and sold without approval from the Drugs Controller General, India (DCGI). It is a pity that doctors in India are so easily influenced by drug companies.
