I want to know about chest reconstruction in a transgendered person?
Q: What is the cost of a chest reconstruction surgery with regard to a female to male transgendered person and how satisfactory is it? Also what are the eligibility, surgery procedure and duration of stay in the hospital? Can you quote any prior experiences of having done it?
A:Chest reconstruction in a transgendered person, according to my understanding, means mastectomy in a person who has undergone female to male sex reassignment surgery. It is a common procedure in this type of sex change surgery. Takes about 2 hours for surgery. The patient is very happy emotionally and psychologically. However, cosmetically results are not very satisfying, as some laxity of skin remains. Hospital stay would be for 3 to 4 days and the cost would be about Rs. 75,000. I have considerable experience with this type of surgery.
