How to treat breast cancer which has spread?
Q: My niece has breast cancer and lungs are also involved. She was treated and after seven months they said she is ok. Now she is having cancer in 2 spots in the brain. She is undergoing treatment again. Is there any chance of survival? If not should she undergo the same treatment? What is the prognosis?
A:I am only giving my reply on the basis of the information you have provided. Unfortunately, when breast cancer spreads to other organs it usually becomes incurable. However, life can be prolonged and the patients symptoms can be controlled by various treatments. Therefore, the treatment she is undergoing to her brain is very much worth while. It is quite possible that after some time the disease might appear in some other part of the body for which she might require further treatment.
