Q: My 4 year old son is having problem . I have noticed that from the last 1 year he is having severe cold and now from his mouth bad smell is coming when he talks. So what is the reason that he is having smell coming from his mouth.I doubt may be of cold or something else.What we have to do to sort out this problem.Waiting for your earliest reply.Rakesh Sethi

A:If he has a bad cold, your son will breathe through his mouth. Mouth breathing results in dryness of the mouth and this can cause bad breath. You need to see an ENT (ear, nose, throat) specialist to find out why he hasa cold for such a long time. In the meantime, you can use nasal drops as adecongestant, maintain oral hygiene by brushing the teeth properly and giveplenty of fluids. This should result in improvement.
