How to reduce bulging stomach?

Q: I am a regular reader of ndtv doctors. I am doing some exercises to reduce by stomach. One of my friend advised me one exercise which reduces bulging stomach very fast. His advise was to lie down with stomach on the floor, to lift elbows and legs up to make a bow shape thus only stomach on floor with full load. Shall I cotinue this exercise or discontinue and are there any side effects with this exercise. Please advise.

A:This exercise will not help you to reduce your stomach. This exercise will help you to keep your back strong and help you to improve your posture. If you are not used to doing strenous exercises, try and avoid it till you are ready for resisted exercises. Try and keep your tummy tucked in while walking, standing, sitting or doing exercises. This will help you to keep your abdominal toned up and give you faster results for reducing your stomach.
