How to overcome blocked fallopian tubes?
Q: We are trying for a 2nd child from the last two years. Our first daughter is 6 and 1/2 years old, and that was a caesarian delivery. After many investigations it is found that both my fallopian tubes are blocked. One is totally blocked and in the other there is some watery thing. Now my doctor has suggested for minilaparoscopy operation and that has to be on the 8th or 9th day after the periods date. When I have planned to do the same my periods got delayed for more than 25 days. During that period on 12th day I found some white discharge with little reddishness. I immediately did the pregnancy test through a kit and the result was negative. So please suggest me what to do next, should I go to the doctor again for ultrasound or wait? Please advise.
A:You should not go in for any surgery or any other procedure, but only for an IVF treatment. No surgery / procedure will restore your fallopian tubes to normal. In IVF, the tubes are bypassed; the eggs are collected from the ovaries by a USG guided needle aspiration, fertilised outside the body with your husbands semen; the embryos are then deposited inside the uterus. The IVF cycle is very expensive, the total cost is around Rs. 75,000-85,000/= (including medicines) with success rate of 40-45%.
