How to avoid recurrence of a pilonidal sinus?
Q: I have just undergone a small operation of pilonidal sinus in the buttock region, I am 5-10 and weight of 80 kgs, normal male. What steps should I take in order to avoid a recurrence?
A:Pilonidal sinuses can recur. Since pilonidal sinuses are caused by buttock hair, you can avoid recurrence, in 99% cases, by constantly shaving your buttock. This is not a measure that I would recommend, because it is cumbersome. However, avoid excessive travel in buses and jeeps.
