How to avoid frequent itching and discharge from my ears?

Q: There is a frequent fungal infection in my ears. Doctor says it is due to the accumulation of dandruff in my ears, which is not cleaned naturally. That is why I feel itchy. I try to clean it with ear-buds but the result is infection and continuous discharge of water like substance. What precautions do I need to take? What is the permanent treatment for this?

A:Fungal infection in the ear is a common complaint during the rainy season. However, at other times, it may be useful to avoid letting water and soap getting into the ears. Take large dry cotton, smear it with vaseline, and plug the ears while taking bath. Later remove the cotton wool. If the ears continue to have a discharge or itchy sensation, consult an ENT surgeon.
