How should we help our son diagnosed with attention disorder?

Q: Our three years and six months old son has been diagnosed with attention disorder and hyper activity. His learning power is excellent and he does not forget things. The main and only problem we are facing is that he does not look at the face of people at all while talking to them. He does not show any interest in meeting people or in communicating with others. Of late, he has become very aggressive and stubborn. He cries a lot for petty issues and does not get easily consoled. What should we do?

A:Do not force your child to look at you when you talk to him. The diagnosis is probably correct. You will have to be patient and give simple instructions. Too many things at once will confuse him. Change his activity when he starts getting impatient. Reward him with a hug when he does things right.
