How does Yoga benefit the human body?
Q: I am practicing Yoga. Will that be sufficient for the physical (internal & external) fitness or do I need some other exercises? What and how does Yoga benefit the functions of the body?
A:There are many different types of yoga varying from simple breathing techniques to complex and potentially damaging exercise. The value obtained depends mainly on the skill of the trainer and the capacity of the trainee. Thus it is important to seek out an individually designed form of yoga practice that is best for the individual. It may still be advisable to continue other exercises such as daily walking or jogging. Other yoga practices besides exercises encourage relaxation and muscle control, and thus may help reduce the adverse effects of psychologic stress and strain. For these reasons, Western countries are using yoga increasingly, often in conjunction with exercises such as weight lifting and bicycling.
