How do I manage my congestion of the nose and chest?

Q: I am 30 years of age and have been sick with congestion of the nose and chest since four months. This problem is frustrating me. I go to my doctors and all he gives me is an allergy and cough medicine. He believes I have mould in my house but I don't think that's the problem because I recently sold my house and my house was inspected for all these sorts of things. This never happened to me before. When I would get sick it would be only for few days then all went away. I never took any form of medication because I would let my body fight it off. This year for the first time I got the flu vaccine - I don't know if this might be the problem for my condition or the spray paint that I used for my stair way since I did not use a mask. I need answer to my problem and I feel that my doctor doesn't have answers for me. I am taking raw garlic and ester-c of 1000 mg twice a day. I hope this would do some miracle. I would like to hear your opinion and hope you can give me some helpful tips?

A:1. Remember that phlegm is not unhealthy for your body. 2. Some amount of phlegm is necessary for our body and you should allow the body to make it. 3. Don't make an attempt to throw out the phlegm by forceful coughing, hawking, snorting...all these are harmful, acts for the throat. 4. Drink plenty of water daily ...almost 3-4 litres a day is a must. 5. Avoid overnight oil cooked food. 6. Consult a doctor immediately if you have fever, sneezing bouts, sore throat etc. 7. Relax and don't think too much about your ailment.
