How can pain in my right foot be cured?

Q: I am a 58 years old man who underwent spinal surgery two years back. After the surgery, I experienced acute pain in my great toe and other toes of the right foot. I underwent electric sensation treatment and physiotherapy for more than a year, but there is no sign of improvement till date. I find it difficult to walk and climb a staircase. The pain persists for the whole day. The pain increases when the big toe bends downward and the tendons get stretched. How can this be cured?

A:The pain and weakness that you developed in your great toe after the spinal surgery seems to be related to your spine pathology. I think this needs to be addressed by a Spine Specialist who would probably order a new set of MRI's of your back. If your treating surgeon is not responding, I would go ahead and take a second opinion from a different surgeon.
