How can I stop feeding my son at night?

Q: My son is 3.5 months old. He weighs 7.2 kg. My wife is presently on maternity leave and will be resuming her office duties next month onwards. My son wakes up at night after every 3 hours interval for feeds. Is it possible to skip one feed at night? Please advise what to do?

A:When the child wakes up for a feed, try patting him back to sleep and prolonging the interval between two feeds slowly. Every child stops demanding night time feeds at some point in the first six months of life. However, babies may behave differently. Most babies will stop demanding night feeds at a weight of around 6 kg and between 3-5 months of age.
