How can I regain my vision lost due to a birthmole on my eye lid?
Q: I have a small, round, red coloured birthmole at the end of the right eyelid due to which the nerves of my right eye are affected. The doctor said that there is a small cluster of blood cells near the retina but the retina is not affected. I also have eye pressure which was 30 at the beginning of the treatment but has now come down to 18. The doctor says that 70% of the vision is affected and the lost sight cannot be recovered. What is the treatment to get back the vision and overcome this problem?
A:This condition is called Sturge-Weber syndrome which is a vascular birthmark affecting one side of the face, eye and causes glaucoma. Treatment should be with eye drops to reduce the increased eye pressure and has to be continued and monitored throughout life otherwise vision will reduce further. Surgery and laser is possible as well.
