How can I get rid of pain after surgery?
Q: I have been operated for laparoscopic appendicectomy last month. It’s been more than a month now and I am still having pain in the same region. Last week I took Ciplox-TZ for a week but there is still no improvement. Could you please tell me the reason for this pain and how can this be treated?
A:You may take some painkillers (with caution). Some pain is not unusual after surgery, and may take several weeks, even some months to disappear. Don’t take antibiotics, as this pain is not due to any infection. The cause in most postoperative cases is entrapment of small nerves during the healing process. Later the nerves atrophy, and the pain disappears.
