How can I build the endurance level of my legs?

Q: My legs have very less endurance. A few 100 m of jogging causes pain. I can't do padmasana properly. Please advise.

A:There is a saying that Rome was not built in a day; so also goes your body and what it can do for you. Endurance is something that you can build over time. Yes, each one of us is born differently so don't compare yourself with others, rather compare yourself with your own self. If you start a regular program that helps build endurance then, give yourself at least a month to see the difference. You can walk at least 3-6 times a week wherein you are using the leg muscles, which will get toned. Start with walking 20 minutes at a speed, which is comfortable and over a period of a week or 10 days, build it up to 30 minutes. Every other day you could also do some squats and lunges to further strengthen your muscles that will help in your walking and vice versa!
