Does my son need a Hepatitis B vaccine, if he had neonatal jaundice?

Q: My son has been given all vaccines except Hepatitis B. The doctors had advised not to give the hepatitis B when it was due, because his bilirubin count was high at the time of birth and my wife was also suffering from a mental shock, due to my elder brother's death in an accident. That time my son was 50 days old. Now my son is 2 and half years old and he is a normal healthy baby. Is any conjugate vaccine available for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis A? How much does it cost and when can it be given?

A:Both vaccines are to be given separately. If the cause of jaundice in the early newborn period was hepatitis B infection, then hepatitis B vaccination is not required. However, if the cause of jaundice at that time was something else then hepatitis B infection can be given.
