Do drugs help treat stammering?

Q: I am 20 years old and have been stammering for the last 14 years. I have undergone speech therapy for quite sometime but with not much improvement. Recently, I have come across many articles on drug therapy for stammering. Drugs like Xanax, Zyprexa, Klonopin, Propranolol and Alprax help in reducing the stammering. Is drug therapy effective in treating stammering?

A:As per what we know about treatment of stammering there is no medication for the same. Speech therapy is totally para medical i.e. it runs parallel to medicine but does not involve medication at any step. Also, no speech therapist is qualified to prescribe medication for any sort of speech problem. Please consult whomever you feel is qualified for such consultation.
