Children - BCG vaccination

Q: My daughter is 3 months old. She had BCG injection in a government hospital when she was 4 days old. Till now there is no reaction on the skin. One doctor is telling why dont you go for BCG injection again. Is there any harm if we go for BCG injection again? Is it advisable to have BCG in the third month?

A:Your daughter may not have responded with a reaction to the BCG vaccine because either the vaccine was not potent or the vaccine was administered too deep (normally this vaccine should be given intradermally i.e. into the skin). There is no harm if the vaccine is re-administered at age 3 months too.
