Can the presence of a gall stone interfere with pregnancy?

Q: I am a 28 years old female. I am three months pregnant. Recently, through an ultrasound I came to know that I have a stone measuring 18 mm in my gall bladder. Can this create problems and interfere with my pregnancy? If so, could you please recommend the precautions I need to take for this. Is there a need to check my diet for this? I would also like to know, whether this can be removed safely or not.

A:If your gall bladder stone is just an incidental finding and has caused no pain so far, then you should avoid fats and fried stuff and can tackle it once the delivery is done, but if you do get bouts of pain, then in your fourth month or so one can consider a surgery for the same.
