Can I have a normal baby?

Q: I am 60 days pregnant but the scan report shows that the baby has not grown. Therefore DNC is suggested next week. Five months back I had termination because the baby had Spina bifida. I was asked to conceive only after 6 months with folate pills. But, I didn’t conceive since we used precautionary measures. Now, I am in utter confusion whether I will conceive a normal baby in future. Kindly guide me whether I can have a baby.

A:Since the baby has not grown in 60 days, it is probably a case of blighted-ovum/missed-abortion. You have to undergo DNC. During DNC ensure that POC (Product Of Conception) is sent for chromosomal studies. Before the next conception, wait for 03 months; and undergo battery of blood investigations including TORCH, APL, ACA, immunological, and karyo-typing. If any abnormality is detected in these tests, that should be treated before you plan conception.
