Can diet or exercise reduce a child's eye power?
Q: My daughter is five years old. We just came to know that she has -2.5 power in both her eyes. Is there any medicine or any method by which we can reduce her refraction? What precautions should we take now? What type of diet should she take?
A:There are no medicines, exercise or dietary alterations which can reduce her number. Constant use of glasses should be encouraged. You should get the number of her glasses checked yearly or earlier if she complains of blurring of vision as in a child the refraction changes with age. Laser surgery for removal of glasses is an option after 18 years of age.
