Can day time sleeping increase cholesterol?

Q: Few days ago I had an occasion to discuss some health issues with am Ayurvedic physician who told me that day-time sleeping is injurious to health; and that as a result of day-time sleeping the bad cholestlerol (i.e. LDL cholesterol) increases considerably. Somehow I am not very convinced. Can you kindly throw some light on this.

A:There is no evidence in the medical literature that day time sleeping increases bad cholestrol. Factors which can elevate LDL cholestrol are a diet rich in fat, lack of regular exercise and genetic influence.
