Can a Hepatitis B virus carrier patient marry a vaccinated girl?

Q: Is it advisable to marry a girl immediately after she finishes her three doses of vaccination for Hepatitis B(i.e. suppose her third vaccine is today, is it advisable to marry her the next day, me being the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) carrier patient. Can we go for a child? Please advise me regarding this.

A:The person should be protected after the third vaccine. If you want to be completely sure you can get her antibody test (anti-HBs titre) done. If it is greater than 10 U/ml the person is protected. With regard to any future children, the infection is transmitted by the mother and not the father. Also get the child vaccinated, starting the three dose vaccine at birth.
