Can a blister in the mouth be cancer?

Q: There is a small blister (hard) in my mouth on the top surface (talu). Sometimes it hides totally and sometime it grows fully. I feel it is cancer of mouth and I am very afraid . Please suggest me what to do. It is paining also. My stomach is clear, no constipation.

A:The likely diagnosis is a torus palatinus, which is usually on the hard palate. Due to constant touching with the tongue and frequent injury to the swelling while eating food, it will swell occasionally and cause pain. However, you have not mentioned your age and whether you eat any paan or betel nut, etc. You should consult an ENT surgeon when you have the swelling so that a correct diagnosis can be made.
