Being allergic to NSAIDs, which drugs should I take for pain relief?

Q: I am a 39 years old man, allergic to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Brufen, Voveran, Disprin etc. What should I take for pain relief?

A:You have not given details of your problem such as cause of pain. There are different medicines for different types of pain. For simple pain such as headache etc. you can take non-NSAIDs such as paracetamol, propoxyphene (Proxyvon), codeine-containing products such as Zimalgin. For more severe pain one can take tramadol (Urgendol). For spasmodic or neuropathic pain, there are other alternatives.
