Are there any restrictions for a rheumatic heart patient?
Q: What are the physical activities restricted for rheumatic heart patient? I am 30 years old with this problem.
A:There are no special restrictions for R.H.D patients as such. Whatever restrictions are put on heart disease patients, apply to them also. It all depends on their category Class I to IV, Class I being the fittest and able to lead a normal life. You should find out from your doctor what category you are. He will advise you accordingly. Since you are only 30, if you have valvular heart disease, you should take Penicillin tablets daily till age 40. Pentids 400 twice daily is recommended. You are also slightly overweight, your BMI being 27.5 as opposed to can ideal of 24. You should keep weight around 65 kg. Please go on a 1400-calorie diet.
