Am I on right treatment?

Q: I am a 27 years old pregnant woman. I underwent ultrasonogram. It was found that my sac measures 15.4 mm, which corresponds to four weeks and five days of gestational age. No embryo or any yolk sac of normal size is seen within the gestational sac. The doctor suggested me to undergo ultrasonogram again after two weeks and prescribed me Folision (5mg) and Gestrinol (allylstrenol) thrice a day. Another doctor told me that it is not right to have allylstrenol at this stage. Am I on right treatment?

A:What I can interpret from your scan report is that there is a (early) pregnancy sac in the uterus. All you need is a repeat scan in two weeks. If it is an ongoing pregnancy, it should show up in the scan. There should be yolk sac and an embryo seen in two weeks’ time. There is no medication, which will make any difference whatsoever to the outcome. Therefore, there is no point in taking any medication.
