Am I allergic to latex?

Q: I am 43 years old male, suffering from burning sensation of penis whenever I use condom. What is wrong with me?

A:Most condoms are made of latex rubber, so it is probably a latex allergy that is causing your problem. About 3% of people are allergic to latex. Allergy to latex condoms can cause a rash on the penis, or on the genital skin of your sexual partner. There may be redness, blistering and itching. The rash usually occurs 6 to 48 hours after using the condom. But other things can also cause similar symptoms. Some condoms contain a spermicide, so your problem could be sensitivity to the spermicide, rather than to the latex rubber. Try non-latex condoms and see if matters improve. Else you will need a checkup. Genital herpes can begin like this too.
