Dr Cyrus Shroff
Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon,
Shroff Eye Centre, New Delhi

Dr Cyrus M. Shroff was born on December 1, 1955. He attended Modern School, New Delhi, and had his medical education at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and retinal surgery training from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. He received the President's medal for the best outgoing student of Modern School in the year, 1973.

He was awarded the Institute Gold Medal for the best graduate of the year, 1980 at AIIMS, New Delhi and VT Doshi Gold Medal for the best fellow in vitreo-retinal surgery, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, 1983.

Presently he is a Medical Director at the Shroff Eye Centre, in Kailash Colony, New Delhi and Hony. Senior Consultant and Advisor at Dr Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital, Darya Ganj, New Delhi. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital.

Dr Shroff has been practising exclusively in the field of vitreo-retinal medicine and surgery for over 16 years. He has performed more than 4000 vitreo-retinal surgical procedures and 8000 laser surgical procedeures.

He has visited centres of excellence in Vitreo-retinal surgery in Europe and the USA, and had the opportunity to closely observe and interact with world leaders in this field. These include Dr John Scott at Cambridge, UK; Dr Charles Schephens in Boston; Dr Robert Machemer at Duke University, Durham; Dr Steve Charles at Memphis; Dr Harvey Lincoff and Dr Lawrence Yannuzzi in New York; Dr R Zivojnovic at Antwerp; Prof Coscas and Prof Soubrane in Paris and Dr. Mathew Thomas in St. Louis, USA.

Dr Shroff has participated in various vitreo-retinal symposia, updates and continuing medical education programmes at National and International meetings as convenor, guest lecturer, faculty member and instructor.

He was appointed "Honorary Ophthalmic Surgeon to the President of India" in December 1997. He has also been awarded the G.K. Panthaki Award for Profesional Excellence, 1997, by the Federation of Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India.
