Will prolonged use of cremaffin affect kidney function?
Q: I am a 68 years old male with symptoms of fall in haemoglobin levels, renal dysfunction and breathing problem. Will prolonged use of cremaffin affect kidney function?
A:Cremaffin contains liquid paraffin It can be used as an occasional laxative, but is unsuitable for regular use as it can seep from the anus and cause irritation; it can interfere with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins; it can be absorbed into the intestinal wall and may cause foreign-body granulamatous reactions etc. It has no known adverse effect on kidneys if taken occasionally.
