Why have I lost interest in sex after the birth of my child?

Q: I am a 27 years old, married lady. After the birth of my first child last year I gained 25 kg. I am trying to reduce it by regular exercises. The birth of the child was normal and I did not have any sexual relation for the next 6 months. After that when I had sexual relation with my husband I realised that I do not have any feeling that I had before the birth of the child. Due to this, I am not able to enjoy the intercourse with my husband. I also do not get orgasm during sexual intercourse. I am worried that this may affect my married life. Please inform me about which doctor should I consult and is this an abnormality of mine or this could happen to any one after pregnancy?

A:There are a lot of psychological reasons for gaining pleasure out of sex. If you are less interested, it could be due to changing priorities, attention to your child, may be emotional problems, etc. During lactation, some of the sensory experiences change, especially in breasts. If you feel that there are no psychological factors or there is no disinterest, get serum prolactin checked.
