Why has my child not started walking?

Q: My 1.3-year-old daughter is yet to start walking on her own though she walks by holding on to things and climbs on to sofa, bed, etc. But she does not walk on her own; only crawls. What should we do in this case? Does giving sugar in milk to the child affect her bones and growth in any way?

A:If she is walking holding on to things, she will walk independently when she gets the confidence. This may take a couple of months, so don't worry. Giving her sugar won't harm her, but it won't make a difference to when she walks either.
