Why does my head start pounding after exercise?

Q: My head seems to pound after I run around or climb up and down the stairs sometimes. My head and my neck get tense. What is the reason for this?

A:Exercise induced palpitations may need to be diagnosed by use of an exercise testing laboratory or at least with monitoring with an electrocardiogram. Usually the problem is benign but blood vessel disease or hypertension could cause a pounding sensation, and only an examination by a good internal medicine specialist or a cardiologist can diagnose the problem.
