Why does my baby pass stools on being breastfed?

Q: My 7 months old daughter is having loose motions for the last two months. She passes stool 6-10 times a day. The doctor advised WHO ORS. But the consistency of motion is still semi liquid. Every time she is breast fed, she passes stools. What should we do?

A:Since the loose stools have been now for 2 months, it seems to be persistent diarrhoea. Please stop lactose and give lactose free milk and give Zinc supplements 20 mg/day. Rule out urine infection and stool infection.
