Q: My 2.6 years old son had been complaining of pain in his private part for quite some time. So, we took him to a doctor who didn't find any problem. My son has also developed a habit of touching his penis through out the day. Is it normal? Further, what should be the average height of a child at this age?

A:Touching and feeling is not uncommon at this age but try and discourage the child as this is not socially acceptable behaviour and the child needs to be told this. If the doctor has seen the child and finds no reason for the pain, disregard it. The average height for a 2 and a half-year-old is around 87 cm but this depends also on parental height.
