Why do I have small pits on my finger nails?
Q: I can see some very small pits on my finger nails on hands. Is it a sign of some infection - or some other thing inside? I do have dry and hard skin on my fingers. I don't smoke. I don't take medicines unnecessarily. Have very sensitive skin to nail polish remover, metal etc.
A:Pitting of nails is generally due to deficiency of calcium or zinc, since you also have dry skin you should consult a skin specialist. Soaking your fingers in warm water for 15 minutes and applying moisturiser may help. You could try a capsule of Becozinc and calcium for 2 -3 months.
