Why do I get regular stomach aches after meals?

Q: I am a 17 years old boy experiencing regular stomach aches for the last three years. I usually get the pain when I don’t have proper diet but at times I get pain when I eat well too. I feel like vomiting too. What kind of illness is this? How can it be treated?

A:I note that you are suffering from pain abdomen for the last 3 years, which is related to your meals. In view of your history of long standing pain, I would advise that you should get some investigations done. There include:- 1. CBC, ESR, LFT, Stool R/E. 2. Ultra sound of whole abdomen. 3. You may also need an upper GI Endoscopy. Your pain is most likely due to acid peptic disease. But it is desirable that you get these investigations done. You should also take a deworming course which your treating doctor can prescribe.
