Why do I feel irritated and depressed?
Q: I am a 21 years old man diagnosed with gynaecomastia for which I had undergone surgery. Lately, I have been experiencing irritable sensations in my abdomen, a puffy face and I feel irritated, stressed and depressed along with excessive sweating. I suspect I have hypo/hyper thyroidism or Cushing's syndrome. Please suggest.
A:These symptoms could be because of a number of reasons including lifestyle related, thyroid (more likely hypothyroid) or other endocrine disorders. Get a haemogram, urine routine, creatinine, liver function test (LFT), fasting blood sugar, thyroid profile and serum cortisol level (morning). With these reports, contact your physician to further assess your symptoms.
