Why are there red eruptions on my penis?

Q: There are some very small pointed eruptions on the glans and foreskin of my penis. The colour of these eruptions is red and the top is white coloured. There is itching but no severe pain. Earlier the doctor here in Japan had diagnosed it as RBC and bacteria in urine. But after medication for 1 week the bacteria and RBC were not present in urine. These small eruptions remain for 1 - 2 days and then the skin peels off. The peeling off usually takes 3 days. After 1-2 days again this cycle is repeated. The doctor has confirmed there is no STD. I have only had sex with my wife and never had sex outside.

A:You are most likely having candidal balanoposthitis. It is likely that you may have diabetes mellitus, so get your blood sugar (Fasting and PP) done. There is also possibility that your wife may have the same problem in the vagina (Vaginal candidiasis) and her symptoms could be itching and discharge per vagina. Treatment for you is application of clotrimazole 1% cream (Candid cream) twice daily after cleaning the area with normal saline. Avoid using soaps, betnovate cream or dettol there. Your wife may use Candid vaginal tablets 200 mg deep intravaginally daily for 3 days or alternatively, she can take oral fluconazole tablets 200 mg once after meals. For further clarifications, consult your dermatologist.
