Why am I unable to hear properly from my left ear?

Q: I am a 34 years old man unable to hear properly from my left ear. The doctor told me that it is due to a problem in the nose and gave me Azithral 500 mg and a nasal drop. He also asked me to get an x-ray done of para nasal sinuses (PNS). The report was fine but I still have hearing problem. Please advise.

A:You most likely have secretory otitis media, which is because of nasal infection being transmitted to ear via the eustachian tube. You need to be on antibiotics and decongestants. If there is still no response then a small surgery called Myringotomy and grommet insertion needs to be carried out.
