Which is the best BP monitor available?
Q: My dad wants to buy a BP monitor. Which one do you suggest?
A:The best BP monitor is the traditional mercury one, but requires a stethoscope as well. This also needs patient training to take the BP readings. However, the electronic BP monitors are also fairly accurate; these have an electronic sensor which measures the turbulence in the blood flow in the brachial artery. Recent ones have fuzzy logic and give better readings. The BP monitor which measures the reading at the arm is better than the one which measures it at the wrist.
