When should I get my child vaccinated with BCG?

Q: My daughter is 9 weeks old. We are planning to visit India when she turns five months old. She has not been vaccinated with BCG yet since there is a long waiting list for it. She has got her first dose of DTP, polio and whooping cough vaccination during her 8th week. Can we get her BCG jab, a week after she gets her second dose of DPT/Polio/Whooping cough vaccination? Do we need to give any gap between any live vaccines? The other alternative we thought of is getting a BCG at India, as soon as we arrive there. Is there any threat of travelling without getting a BCG for her?

A:BCG vaccine should be given simultaneously with other vaccination or there should be a minimum gap of four weeks between two different types of vaccinations. It would be better if the child was vaccinated before coming to India. However, if it is not possible do not worry too much.
