What is tissue damage and its cure?

Q: I had approached my doctor since I was having cold, & sore throat. Further I was having a little breathlessness, tiredness on exertion (while running), etc. The doctor said that the breathlessness was due to tissue damage. He asked me to have becozinc capsules to rectify the tissue damage. Kindly let me know a little more about tissue damage and cure.

A:Tissue damage is a rather vague term. Almost all tissues in the body lose older cells which are replaced by newer ones. Excessive tissue damage may occur as a result of a variety of insults including injury, lack of oxygen, circulating toxins, immunological mechanisms or overproduction of oxidants. Vitamins and trace minerals are not the panacea for preventing tissue damage.
