Q: My grandson is two months old and is suffering from cradle crap. Yellow, flaky stuff grows on his scalp and eyebrow areas. These are not red or wet. He is in the U.S. and the doctor is asking his parents not to worry about it but I am concerned. What is to be done about it? Any home remedies for it? Is it okay to wash the scalp and hair with gram flour?

A:This is called seborrhoeic dermatitis and often occurs in small babies. A mild steroid ointment is usually prescribed if considered necessary. Please do not use any home remedies such as gram flour, milk, ghee etc as these may worsen the rash.
