What is the ideal diet for a breakfast?
Q: I am confused, whether my breakfast should be light with only fruits or should it be heavy with cereals etc.? As the adage goes that we should have breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. It is also said that we should not mix salad with fruits while eating. What harm would it make if we do not keep a gap of 30 minutes between a fruit session and our meals including salad? What should be a sample ideal vegetarian diet including fruits and salad for a person of 178 cm height, 41 years of age and moderate physical activity.
A:There is absolutely no confusion. It is true, you must have breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. Breakfast should be the best and the heaviest. It is breaking your fast and so you need good quality stuff. This may include cereals, milk, fruit, eggs, whatever suits you, depending of course on your eating preferences and general biochemical profile (blood tests including sugars, lipids, etc.). There are no hassles in mixing fruits and veggies. However, in some individuals, doing this may cause acidity. This is purely relative and you can see what suits you. A vegetarian sample diet or you would include a heavy breakfast, as mentioned earlier, mid morning fruits, lunch, evening tea, pre dinner meal (say a soup with some salads) and dinner. You can inculcate a habit of drinking a cup of milk before sleep for better body calcium stores and better bowel movements.
