Q: I am a 30 years old man suffering from oral thrush with a white tongue, indigestion and itchy eyes for the last 6 months. What are the causes of these symptoms? I came to know that these symptoms are related to candidal infection. How to overcome candidal infection? I had unprotected sex 15 months back I had taken a course of antibiotics for 10 days for urinary track infection 9 months back I have also taken HIV Elisa test after 15 months of unprotected sex and was found negative. I don’t have any ulcers in the mouth but only light milky colour tongue in the evenings What is the cause of this problem and how can it be treated?

A:It is very unusual for a healthy individual to have oral thrush for as long as 6 months. Therefore, it is essential to have it confirmed, preferably by KOH examination of the scrapes from white areas. Oral antifungals should be taken. Concomitantly one should also look for and treat, other co morbid and predisposing factors responsible for such a prolonged candidal infection.
