What is the cause for blood in urine?

Q: I am 54 years old. For the past two years, I am getting blood in urine. It is visible and also testing shows RBC coming in urine. Just about 4 months back, I got removed a very small kidney stone by laborscopic (Urithrophy) method. After removal got confirmed by Ultra sound two times that there is no more stone in the kidney or in the uninary tract.I drink lot of water daily about 2 to 3 liters per day. Even then I continued to get blood in the urine. Kindly advise why the blood is coming in the urine and what is to be done to stop it. Whar are the side effects of the same. So far no visible effects are known.

A:I need to know whether the operation was Lithotripsy or PCNL or URS. If you have blood in urine, get urine cytology for three consecutive days. Also get an ultrasound for bladder. Talk to your Urologist to rule out any other cause. Dont ignore it. Tell me in which part of urine the blood comes - in starting or at the end or it is mixed equally throughout.
