Q: I am a 43 years old male. My X-ray report reveals that I am suffering from Osteopaenia. What is the nature and treatment of this disease? Will calcium-rich food beneficial for me?

A:Osteopenia means lower than normal peak BMD . Bone mineral density is a measurement of the level of minerals in the bones, which indicates how dense and strong they are. In addition to what you take in from food, your body makes vitamin D in response to sunlight 2) Exercise is important in maintaining strong bones, because bone forms in response to stress. Weight Bearing exercises such as walking and hiking are all good choices 3) Quitting smoking and avoiding excessive use of alcohol and cola will also reduce your risk of bone loss
