What is meant by early hormone therapy?

Q: What is meant by early hormone therapy? What should be the cutoff point to start hormone therapy in a 63 years old asymptomatic patient who is not a candidate for a radiation?

A:Hormones in cancer prostate works the best in advanced cases of cancer of the prostate with symptomatic secondaries. Persons use hormones as and when they cannot offer surgery or radiotherapy. Personally those indications for hormones are also indication for no treatment in my practice. I do not believe in giving hormones as a shot in the dark or a desperate remedy phenomenon. At least I must ensure better quality of life if not longevity. Rather than interpreting yourself you should consult a urologist and seek advice in your case.
